Dr. Lamees Ashker

Dr. Lamees Ashker is a board certified and fellowship trained cataract and corneal surgeon. She began practicing ophthalmology in 2010. After spending 12 years in private practice in Greenbelt, MD, she joined Montgomery Eye Physicians and Surgeons in 2022.

In addition to her general ophthalmology training, she received additional training in cornea and anterior segment surgery at the Johns Hopkins/Wilmer Eye Institute. She specializes in cataract surgery (including laser cataract surgery and refractive lenses), corneal transplantation, and ocular surface surgery.

Her clinical interests include corneal diseases such as dry eye disease and keratoconus. She also treats many glaucoma patients. She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS).

Dr. Ashker received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in fine arts and literature at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she received her medical degree as well. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Hershey Medical Center/Penn State University in Hershey, PA, and attended the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD for her cornea fellowship.

Following her training she spent many years as a volunteer teacher and instructor in ophthalmic surgery to resident physicians of Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center while in private practice in Greenbelt, MD.

She is passionate about her profession and enjoys educating patients about their eyes and eye disease. Patients often comment that they can tell that she loves what she does.
