Dr. Haoxing Chen is a board-certified, fellowship-trained glaucoma and cataract surgery specialist. He grew up in Rockville, MD and graduated from University of Maryland College Park with a B.S. in Biological Sciences.
During his undergraduate years, he also served as a research intern at the National Eye Institute and was engaged in ocular genetics research. He then received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.
Dr. Chen then completed his ophthalmology residency training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and went on to complete a glaucoma surgical fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan. He then worked at Virginia Eye Consultants located in Norfolk, Virginia with world-renowned colleagues of all ocular subspecialties before returning back home to the Maryland/DC area.
He specializes in all glaucoma surgical and laser techniques, including many of the available minimally invasive glaucoma surgical devices. He is also femtosecond-laser cataract surgery certified so he can work with his patients to become as glasses-independent as possible.
He is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
